I went through a bit of benefit obsession a few years back, it lasted a good few years in self and although I am still a fan, I have allowed myself to venture out and explore other options.
During my obsessive phase, I made it my mission to collect every set that Benefit were releasing. Most of them are packed safely away pending a move into a new family home but this set, Groovy kind-a-love made it to the MUST NOT PACK box.
This set is a little bit spesh to me because I bought it at the Covent Garden Benefit Boutique, when I was on my hen do and my hens had arranged for me to have a Benefit make over and gave me some money to spend on what ever I liked! I chose this amongst a few other things so I could get a free mirror (as previously mentioned, easily swayed by a gift with purchase!).
This set is beyond beautiful. At the time, I paid £29.50 for it but it is on offer at the moment for a super price of £19.66. The packaging is in keeping with Benefit’s trademark quirky style, to go with the trademark quirky names. It is a metal tin, and inside is a the POREfessional mini 7.5 , they’re real! Mini 4.0 g , benetint medium 4.0 mL , dandelion & gimme fever cheek powder duo 1.5g plus 4 super versatile neutral eye shadow shades (4x 1.2g).
POREfessional is a primer which conquers pores and fine lines and creates a smooth base ready for the perfect foundation application. It is an oil free formula and when applied to the skin is translucent so is suitable for all skin tones. This is a staple in my make up bag.
They’re Real is one of Benefits most popular mascara’s. I am glad of the miniature version in this kit, because I do like a good layer of They’re real and it is nice to have a smaller version which is good for popping in the handbag (although I am a bit OCD with my kits and like to keep all the products together as one).
I am a huge fan of the tints from Benefit and Bene-tint was the original in the modern tint line. It is a gorgeous rose-tinted stain which can be used on lips and cheeks. The only down side is because it is a stain, you have to be a quick mover to get it blended in before it “stains”.
The cheek powder in this kit is a duo, with Dandelion on one side and Gimme Fever on the other. Dandelion is a gorgeous pale pink with the tiniest hint of shimmer. It gives a lovely natural glow on the apples of the cheeks. I have the full size of this and although it is not one of my most used, I always remember why I like it when I do use it. Gimme Fever, could be an exclusive to this set but I am not sure. It is a darker bronze toned shimmer which provides the perfect contrast to Dandelion.
In the eye shadows, we have “tickle my ivory” which is just what it says, a matt ivory shade perfect for a base than can be used right up to the brow bone. Next is “gilt-y pleasure” which is a shimmer pale bronze colour which is great on the lids. As you can see from the swatch it is a pale- mid tone, but transfers just enough onto the lids. Third is “shimmer down” which is a golden brown-bronze colour and works really well for building up the colour in the crease and on the outer corners of the lid to create a contoured look. Last but not least is the darkest shade in the quad, “kiss me, i’m tipsy” which is a deep brown – bronze shimmer which again can add depth in the crease and is great for lining the eyes or creating a more defined smokey eye look.
As with all Benefit sets, it comes with a superb step by step guide.
This set really is one for all occasions and is great for travelling if you can pop some foundation in your bag too. The only thing missing is a mirror in the lid.
Grab yourself a bargain whilst you can!!
